I wanna start creating app a for Homebrew. What should I do first?

So, I'm a noob to this kind of thing and I was wondering around the forums seeing users create amazing apps that does stuff. So, how do you create onw? What tools I should get and use?

I'm starting to learn these things just like Petit Computer and SimeBASIC.
