UPDATE: Regarding the recent 3DS banwave

It appears that users are being banned from 3DS online services, en masse. There's no direct cause right now, and seemingly no linking factor. This post is meant as an announcement for users, to be wary, and that GBAtemp will keep you updated as soon as more info rolls in. If you have been banned, please post in the thread below, and we will try to keep tabs on the situation. To be extra sure, it can't hurt to turn off your 3DS's wireless...

UPDATE:

This thread can be closed. All I need to do is restart my 3DS, and that is it! Everything is back to the way it should be.


There are 2 things I wanted to ask:

  • How do I reset the "Download Play", so that it is no longer launching Homebrew Launcher?
  • How do I reset the Rosalina button combo back to L+Down+Select?
Thanks. I'm still able to reactivate Rosalina with the button combo, but it's only a 1-button combo. :unsure:

luma3ds installation guide softbricked my 3ds HELP

so i was trying to get luma3ds on my 3ds, but when i found out that i didn't need luma3ds to use fbi, i tried getting rid of the files but when i remove the boot.firm file from the sd card it will soft brick my device... also my homebrew will crash when trying to open hb apps and i just want to get rid of it, i dont have internet at home to factory reset... its just a bad time for me so someone help!

Hi! I want to start using melonDS (due to the WiFi improvements) and I need the arm9.bin and arm7.bin files. I have a homebrewed 3DS, and a DS Lite (although I have not idea how to homebrew the DS Lite). What's the software I use to dump those .bins from my 3DS? Thanks!

FBI crashes after launch

Hi, I am on 11.3.0-36J and I followed the guide in https://3ds.guide to install CFW
Im at the 3rd page (finalizing setup https://3ds.guide/finalizing-setup ) section IV.
When I launch FBI from homebrew (download play), it goes back to home screen saying download play crashed.
How can i fix this?
Also, after doing Section II my 3ds was upgraded to 11.4... the guide says its safe to upgrade, and my upgrade took literally no time...

As you may (hopefully) know, @CTurt made the original 3DSController a few years ago. I used it for many things, but now I started to notice its quirks... I'm not able to START+SELECT in a game that needs it, I'm always turning on the keyboard by accident while spamming the keys, and sometimes the backlight turns on without me noticing it. Because CTurt was very nice by opensourcing 3DSController I reworked it...

[question] black screen / no screen for custom b9s payload?

I'm trying to make a simple b9s payload as my first 3ds program. The program runs when it is loaded through Luma's chainloader or ctrbootmanager, but when it is the boot.firm, nothing happens. I am assuming i am missing something in my program to initialize the screen, but I am failing to find anything in other b9s payload source code. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm curious cause a guy on another forums asked this question and he says he bought a 2DS from some store and upon returning home and booting it up he noticed that his 3DS's online functionality seemingly does not work. Basically, he can't update the firmware and he can't go online with it so he checked the firmware and 11.0.0-4U is what showed up.

We told him to check the SD card and he says there's a lot of weird files on the card that wouldn't normally be in a clean SD card.

CIAs installed with FBI require parental PIN code

Every game I install via CIA using FBI, when I try to launch it, I need to input a parental PIN code, even for kid's games.

I can't turn off parental controls due to the Nintendo ID linked with the 3DS being a child's account, it won't let me.

Is there any way round this? It's a pain when my 10 year old son goes to launch a game, he'd need my parental PIN code every time.

Decrypt CIA file on PC

I've heard now that the bootrom keys have been dumped, it is possible to decrypt a cia without needing a 3ds. It's very lengthy to send a cia to my 3ds, decrypt it, and send it back, so i was wondering if anybody has any background with this.

Thenaya is a homebrew app which can program Amiibo dump files into blank NTAG215, making brand new Amiibos. It's the little sister of the TagMo project.

Currently it is very much POC/Alpha stage. But it works for me (TM).

Usage is simple:
Copy the 3dsx/smdh files into 3ds folder.
Createa folder called "amiibo" in the sd root and put any amiibo dump files into it.
